Life’s Little Instruction

21 Oct

I received an e-mail yesterday from Mr. Ranjan, Facilitator of the Personal Excellence Training I attended last September 14-15, 2008. It was “Life’s Little Instructions”, originally wrote by Jackson Brown as a gift for his son who was leaving home to begin his freshman year in college.

I wanted to share the positive message that it conveys with you all. I hope it will be beneficial for us to achieve a happy and rewarding life.

Life’s Little Instruction

  • Sing in the shower.
  • Treat anyone you meet like you want to be treated.
  • Watch sunrise at least once a year.
  • Never refuse home made brownies.
  • Strive for excellence and not for perfection.
  • Plant a tree on your birthday.
  • Learn three clean jokes, if you can find any.
  • Return borrowed vehicles with the gas tank full.
  • Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them.
  • Leave everything a little better than you found it.
  • Keep it simple.
  • Think big thoughts, but relish small pleasures.
  • Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know.
  • Be forgiving of yourself and others.
  • Say “thank you” a lot.
  • Say “please” a lot.
  • Avoid negative people.
  • Wear polished shoes.
  • Remember other people’s birthdays.
  • Commit yourself to constant improvement.
  • Have a firm handshake.
  • Send lots of Valentine cards, sign them.
  • Look people in the eye.
  • Be the first to say “hello”.
  • Return all things you barrow.
  • Make new friends but cherish the old ones.
  • Keep secrets.
  • Plant flowers every spring.
  • Have a dog.
  • Always accept an outstretched hand.
  • Stop blaming others.
  • Take responsibility for every area of your life.
  • Wave at kids on school buses.
  • Be there when people need you.
  • Don’t expect life to be fair.
  • Never underestimate the power of love.
  • Drink champagne fro no reason at all.
  • Live your life as an exclamation, not as an explanation.
  • Don’t be afraid to say “I made a mistake”.
  • Don’t be afraid to say “I don’t know”.
  • Compliment even small improvements.
  • Keep your promises no matter what.
  • Marry only for love.
  • Rekindle old friendships.
  • Call your mother, and your dad, if they still happen to be alive.
  • Count your blessings.

Have a Great Day!

I enjoyed the list. Indeed, napakagandang sundin lahat. I have experienced planting a seed on my birthday but I regret not ever knowing if the seed had grown into a tree. Hindi na kasi ako nakabalik sa lugar na pinagtaniman ko😦 I am crossing my fingers that it did.

Oh, I like this very much—thanks for sharing!

I have one, and this contributes to me having a good day everyday:

“Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.”
